Chaos of the Individual
“A friend in high school is that person who you tell your secrets to... Then they go and tell everyone else” -Mel
Most sane people really don’t want to hurt you; and when they do, they don’t hate you. Typically, people are just chaotic messes. And in that chaos, calm is found by creating chaos in the minds of those around us. The individual is chaotic, dramatic, upset, unsettling, hurting, uneasy, beautiful. The problem that I see is people forgetting that everyone around them is just as human as they are, and it becomes easy to be selfish and conceited when we don’t feel the same daggers that they do. Blood, toil, and tears flow out of each one of us, but other people's problems just aren't obvious to us. Even as feeling, thinking individuals, we don't recognize the sweat and tears of the person next to us.
There is a chaos manifesting in the hearts of each of us caused by the stress of life, the fake friends, the misunderstanding. The chaos of the individual then becomes the chaos of society. Each messed up, flawed human contributes to a disorganized and confused culture masked by politics, social media, and fake smiles. Perhaps if we can begin to understand the chaos of the person next to us, we can strive towards a new identity for our generation. One that doesn't accept the chaos; but instead learns to understand it; and from that point, fix it.
That's what I am attempting to recognize through my writing. What makes a friend spread your secrets or worse, a false rumor? What makes someone who wanted at one point to love you, hate you? Selfishness? Jealousy? Unawareness? The chaos inside themselves? I'm not sure. All I know is that it exists, and it affects each of us in some way or another.
